To date approximately 3,500 youth and their families have walked through CKC’s doors, taking advantage of their youth development services which include mentoring, substance abuse workshops, youth leadership training, sexual education and recreational activities. Over the past decade, 50 participants have received athletic scholarships to colleges and universities. Additionally, our services have won the organization several accolades including Prince George’s County’s prestigious “Outstanding Community Service of the Year” award and proclamation from City of Seat Pleasant, City of Glenarden, and Prince George’s County Council 24th Legislature. Even more unique is the fact that all of our activities have been made possible through the tireless efforts of our unpaid staff, volunteers and dedication of our clients towards positive change. This in itself shows the organization’s commitment to fulfilling a mission of empowerment from the grassroots level despite existing capacity issues. The success of ongoing program efforts has led to future plans for a nationwide replica of the project to help raise awareness on youth related issues. Additionally, our achievements have won us partnerships with government and private agencies like the PG County Police Department, PG County Department of Health, PG County Schools and Bowie State University.
